Baycip is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that is available in an ointment and a solution (eye-drops) used to treat a number of eye infections. Doctors also prescribe Baycip to treat other medical conditions.
Two common causes of eye infections are bacterial or viral conjunctivitis, more commonly known as pink eye. Both the viral and bacterial infections are very contagious. A person suffering with conjunctivitis will have extremely bloodshot eyes which, when waking up after sleep, are filled with discharge and look ‘shut together’.
When eyes are exposed to foreign bodies or strong chemicals, they can also become infected. Foreign bodies can enter the eye and cause damage to the cornea. Even though eye infections can heal quickly, it is often necessary to see a doctor who will prescribe Baycip ointment or drops to clear up the infection.
Depending on the type of eye infection, your doctor will decide if your treatment requires ointment or eye-drops. Whatever form your doctor prescribes be sure to follow the doctor’s directions about how and when Baycip should be administered.
If you are using Baycip to treat an eye infection, you should not wear contact lenses during treatment. Do not increase the period of treatment without your doctor’s approval. If Baycip is used for prolonged periods, there may be a serious danger of the infection becoming immune to this drug.
Doctors prescribe Baycip knowing that it is one of the most popular and effective drugs available.
